Looking at some recent cases the HSE prosecutions are taking around three years to reach a sentence, during which time the collateral damage associated with the accident must continue to spread, with families and friends, colleagues and employers on all sides all adversely affected in some way. Let us hope that the Fines for Intervention provides the HSE with increased resources which in turn generates a new awareness of our responsibility to protect each other from harm.

The HSE has now invoiced £727, 644.81 for site visits during the first two months of the scheme so the effects should start to kick in fairly soon.
