THE CHALLENGE

KOK were appointed as Principal Designers on this £6m project. The works involved extensive Cat A & B refurbishment of the 4-storey office in the centre of Cardiff, including all finished, mechanical & electrical installations as well as full refurbishment of common areas which is to be occupied by Eversheds Solicitors – a high spec and diligent Client. This included elements such as:

+ Interior strip out of offices and general areas

+ Passenger lift replacement

+ Network data installations as well as Mechanical; AC, ventilation, Security, and above ground domestic water services

+ Bespoke joinery installations

+ Floor, wall and ceiling finishes

+ Strip out and installation of new kitchens and washrooms

+ External works to the carpark and cleaning of the building

KEY CONSIDERATIONS

The building was partially occupied during the works which were taking place on the ground floor, 1^st floor, 2^nd floor, 3^rd and 4^th floor as well as roof and plant areas, car park and exterior. Because of this, works had to be carefully planned in phases to allow occupants to relocate once each floor was ready for occupation, as well as carefully co-ordinating safe access and storage of construction equipment. Our team also carried out Site Safety Inspections during construction to ensure works were being carried out safely and to demonstrate Client due diligence whilst works were taking place.

THE OUTCOME & RESULTS

The project has been completed safely and successfully to an incredibly high-spec standard.
