THE CHALLENGE
KOK have provided Principal Designer and CDM Advisor services on various projects for the University of Manchester Campus Masterplan, with completed projects totalling over £275million and an estimated total spend of £1billion over the course of the 10-year Masterplan. Upon completion, the University will have a world-class urban campus in the heart of Manchester City Centre.
New build, five-storey building providing 7,800m2 of accommodation, including two cleanrooms, a number of heavily-serviced research laboratories, as well as office accommodation, social and seminar space. Phase One Civil Engineering Works included the clearance of the site and major excavation to form the vibration resistant (VC-D) base and contiguous piled retaining structure to house the basement cleanrooms and Central Utilities Block.
